oikos Book Club

We believe that education and exchange are essential drivers for innovation and change.
With oikos Bookclub we cover both aspects.

What is the bookclub about?

The oikos Book Club meets bi-weekly to discuss the selected reading chapters in the group. Next oikos Book Club will start during winter term 2022. We are still looking for interesting books to read.

What is the goal?

Through selected books we encourage self-education and confront ourselves with matters that we might not have been in touch with through our studies. The group discussions that follow the selected reading sequences serve to train our critical thinking, gain new perspectives, and simply learn to express one’s own ideas.

Who can join?

Everyone is welcome!
This format is open to each and every person who is eager to learn more about our global demands and how our economy should be responding to it.

Books read & discussed so far

We read whatever is relevant to our organization, helps us to grow as future leaders or is desired by our team members.

Green New Deal - ANN PETTIFOR

The first book we read was: “Green New Deal”, written by Ann Pettifor. The Green New Deal requires a radical change in our economy which not only comprises a full decarbonization but also an economy, that is based on social justice and fairness. Ann Pettifor was a co-developer of the concept herself and she clearly describes how the  Green New Deal was developed and what will be needed to implement and finance it.

Economy Studies - Sam de Muijnck & Joris Tieleman

Economy Studies is more than a book. It is a project inspired from the movement to modernise economics education. It serves as a practical guide for (re-) designing economics courses and programs in order to prepare us for the needs of this changing world.
